A Very Shiny Nose

Rudolph wishes you Happy Holidays, from his paddock at Safeco Plaza, the former SeaFirst Building.

Closer to home, here’s the tree in our lobby.  A smaller version, over by the concierge desk, invites Santa-style donations, and a big box is filling with personal items for our neighbors at New Horizons Ministries.

In other nearby decoration news, Macy’s is closing its downtown Seattle store at the end of the year.  The eight-story building is already three-quarters occupied by Amazon instead.  And of course the landmark will always be the Bon Marché to us.  I’m not sure what will happen to the traditional snowy toy-train display in the northwest window, featured in last year’s entry; business interests have pledged to preserve the Macy’s star, successor to the Bon’s giant Christmas tree.

As our year winds down, we’re looking forward to a mid-winter Florida trip — and backward, to a year that included a visit to our old home in Mexico, and later a fling in northern Europe.  If you missed any of these, or want to look at the pretty pictures again, it’s all here.  At any rate, here’s wishing you a joyous holiday season and a happy 2020!
