Dear President Trump:<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Many of your administration\u2019s decisions will primarily affect how Americans treat each other: who is allowed to pollute, who is encouraged to vote, whether the police are accountable for their actions.\u00a0 We can dial fiscal policies up and down and see for ourselves whether we like the results.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We will not be able to perform the same kinds of experiments with climate change, though.\u00a0 We have had a greater effect on the world\u2019s atmosphere than any other country, though we have suffered less.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The world has come up with a plan to try to deal with this problem, and the United States has agreed.\u00a0 Withdrawal now from the Paris Climate Accord would be a betrayal of our future and everybody else\u2019s.\u00a0 I hope that you will be guided by those in your inner circle who are on the side of science and not exploitation.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No matter how mighty it is, America will not continue to be a world leader if it chooses to march in the opposite direction from everybody else.
