Autumn again, and time to assemble peaceably. This season’s No Kings demonstrations included a walk from Westlake Park to Seattle Center and a Voting Fair there. In the picture above, a giant blue ballot drop box greets marchers.
Local newshound Jaime Mendez makes a cameo appearance in the video above. You may be able to see his more thorough report on Facebook.
Since the last demonstration there’s been a new war begun, apparent war crimes committed, an uptick in arrests of immigrants without criminal convictions, and more favoritism shown to the powerful. Protest signs reflect familiar concerns.
More people are becoming aware that the interests represented at the White House are not theirs.
The biggest shift in voter support though seems to come from a realization that no amount of Making America Great is likely to Make Gas Prices Fall. Though the marchers mostly expressed ethical concerns, they’re hoping that economics will drive enough dissatisfied citizens to the polls to influence the legislature.
Voting early, moreover, is thought to be the best defense against an attempt to invalidate the election.
Here’s the description of the planned event, by Seattle Indivisible.
